Infoworks toasts to ten years

On 1 February 2011 Infoworks celebrated its tenth birthday.

To give thanks and show appreciation Infoworks celebrated this achievement on 9 November 2011 in style with personnel and loyal clients at Rose Mary’s Bistro in Klerksdorp.

This event, which included an impressive video production detailing the company’s origins and future with a 3D climax, showed off Infoworks’ many talents. Three individuals that were instrumental in the establishment of Infoworks were honoured. To show our gratitude for being their service provider of choice for 10 years, Senwes and Grain SA each received a special recognition award from Infoworks. This was followed by an enjoyable dinner, lots of laughter and many “do you remembers”

Thank you to everyone who have made Infoworks' ten year run possible. We look forward to the next decade of working together.

Learnership

Gregory Sekobotsane

Currently we have one person in our learnership programme. The learner and the programme are 100% funded by Infoworks. We are helping Gregory Sekobotsane to gain enough experience so that he can improve his working skills and make a success of his career. He is currently working as an assistant in the Digital Media department - helping with design and layout.

AN INTERVIEW WITH GREGORY

1. What attracted you to Infoworks?
Back in 2007 I attended the newsletter training workshop Infoworks annually give to the editorial team of Klerksdorp Secondary School's News Beyond publication. I was in grade 11 then. I immediately took to Infoworks because I loved the atmosphere and the vibe here, so I asked them what I must do to work here. Four years later I am here where I wanted to be because Infoworks gave me the opportunity to do what I love to do.

2. What were your first few weeks of your learnership like?
It was a very exciting time because I was eager to learn new skills. It was also a bit challenging though because it was the first time I used programmes like Photoshop and learning some of the shortcuts were a bit tricky to master.

3. What have you learned so far?
I don't know where to start ... I have learned a bit of everything - from deep etching, uploading portfolios on deviant art, getting portfolios ready for the web, how to do a gallery for a website and so much more. Some of the tutorials were amazing! I'm currently learning how to design email signatures.

5. What have you learned about yourself through the programme?
I have learned that nothing is impossible if I put my mind to it and do it whole-heartedly. I used to be one of those people who never asked for help when I needed it, but now I am a firm believer of "clever people ask".

6. Would you tell others about Infoworks?
Of course I would and I do often. Almost every day I get asked where I intern and I proudly tell them: Infoworks Media Publishing followed by "Google us and you'll find us".

Infoworks community project

Infoworks Media Publishing presented our fourth training session for the Klerksdorp Secondary School (KSS) editorial team on 13 May 2011.

With this community project, Infoworks conducts the management and layout of the KSS quarterly newsletter, News Beyond. The new News Beyond editorial team visits Infoworks on an annual basis for background training in photography, journalism, marketing, project management and graphic design.

This year, twelve learners (from grade 10 and 11) and their teacher, Miss Pema, had the opportunity to come and learn more about putting together a publication.
